The Liverpool Open
It was a small but select turnout for the second event on the ESTFA circuit. Algy Taylor had put a lot of time and effort into running this event and it was disappointing to see so few players making the effort to attend. Still, this meant that those who did play got easy points towards the circuit rankings!
The tournament did at least have perfect numbers for a Swiss Style event and this was the format used. Three rounds of Swiss were played and these all in one Open category. It was nice to see older faces like Tom Taylor playing alongside ‘newer’ faces like Angelo Ritoridis. At the end of the days play it was Mat Lampitt who was top of the table, but just look how close it was! Three players separated by goal difference and all three ahead of England Captain Dave Pawsey!
